which character is the most GENUINE, the most true to himself, and who really does live his life according to his own morals?
The character that I believe is the most Genuine and the most true to himself is Igby. All Holden does is bitch about his stupid little life and doesn't even really put much effort into trying to get somewhere in life. To him... anyone that has done something is just another "phoney". Igby on the other hand doesn't want anything to do with school. But he did the high school equivlency test and passed it, so allready he is better that Holden. Igby is trying hard to do something

Blog Entry #3
I think that Holden Caulfield is not very smart. A couple of reasons that he's not the brightest is because he doesn’t even know where the ducks go in the winter, he called Sally Hayes a royal pain in the ass and he got kicked out of school because he was failing most of his classes. He is also very hypocritical. Some proof of this is that Holden always calls poeple phoney, but is really quite phoney himself. A reason that Holden is phoney is because he is very judgmental of other people. An example of this is when he judged those people by the suitcases that they had. I also really hate it how he always talks about how every little thing depresses him. Overall I would say that Holden is quite a dick and I don’t know how anyone could ever be friends with him.

What does it mean to be a kind, decent person?
Being a kind and decent person means that that you are always willing to listen to what other people have to say. If any of your friends ever needed help, you would be there to help them. Being a decent person means that you would not lie to your friends or family. It also means that you would not steal or take what is not rightfully yours. Smoking and/or drinking does not make you a bad person. A big part in being a kind/decent person is that you have lots of respect for people and poeple's belongings. It also means that you can be trusted by others. That is what I think it means to be a kind and decent person.
